Experiential Education
Experiential Education is the integration of hands on experience with tradition classroom teaching methods. We use this approach to develop and strengthen interactive thinking, attention to detail, flexibility, innovation, and self-motivation in teenagers. Applying knowledge in a real-world setting requires students to face challenges, find solutions to problems and make decisions to achieve their desired results.
EXAMPLES
• Learning proportion and ratio by building kites. • Learning practical application of science by building model bridges. • Learning earth science while participating in mountain biking. • Understanding geometric concepts by studying geology in the field. • Learning the importance of community service by trail building with the forest service. • Gaining understanding of an author’s perspective by backpacking in wilderness areas. • Learning to write detailed descriptions by observing formations during supervised rock climbing. |
