Equestrian Program

Our Equestrian Program accommodates all levels of interest and abilities from beginner through advanced students. Students may choose a program in Western or English riding as their physical education elective.

Beginners learn the basics of caring for their horses and tack; leading, mounting and dismounting; moving in and out of gaits; and working with their horses in the arena and on trails. Advanced riders may focus on one area of discipline including, Western Pleasure, Trail Riding, Barrel Racing, English Pleasure, Hunter / Jumper, and Dressage. Riders have the opportunity to compete in gymkhanas and other local competitions. Recreational riding is also offered and students may board their own horses for an additional fee.

The Equestrian Program teaches students the importance of teamwork, decision making, problem solving, self-reliance, safety, and trust. Teens who are interested in becoming leaders and mentoring other students may enroll in the Equestrian Assistant program.

Equestrian Assistants work closely with the Equestrian Director learning all aspects of horsemanship.
