Parents, family and friends joined the OCRS students and faculty for another fun-filled Parents Weekend. The festivities began Thursday October 14th with lunch for everyone, followed by the Parent/Faculty vs. Student Softball game; Parent/Faculty vs. Student Football game, an Equestrian demonstration and Art Show. Thanks to everyone involved, the weekend was a resounding success!

Here are some thoughts from parents attending the OCRS Parents Weekend:

"I just want to thank everybody at Oak Creek Ranch School for the wonderful team work that everybody is doing to get our teens to do better at school. Parents Weekend was a phenomenal weekend. Full of information for the parents to understand our teens. Since that time I feel better knowing that my son is safe and is doing what he has to do. Thanks to the OCRS family. I really appreciated everybody!" - OCRS Parent 2009

"Dear Mr. Wick, - I just wanted to thank you for our wonderful weekend! It was so great to see everything and especially nice to get to meet and talk with other parents. I just can't tell you how thankful we are that our daughter is attending your school. I haven't seen my daughter this happy in several years. In just one month the changes have been amazing! I wanted the chance to personally thank all of her teachers for all they have done for her. She is really blossoming!" - OCRS Parent 2009

For the 9th straight year, the Parents and Faculty were victorious in Softball, with a 10 to 5 win over the OCRS Students. The OCRS Boys' speed and stamina were too much for the Parents and Faculty in the highly competitive flag football game which ended with a 28-12 victory for the still undefeated Wildcat Football Champions.

On Friday, round table discussions allowed parents/presenters to spend 45 minutes together exchanging information and sharing experiences. Topics included:
'The Future of OCRS' - David Wick Jr., Headmaster
'OCRS' Approach to Learning' - Nadine O'Brien, Principal
'Developmental Tasks and Behavior' - Jim Graves, Dean
'Adolescents & Addiction' - Jon Sholeff
'Success with Handwriting' - Craig Imler, Guidance Counselor
'Make the Transitition from High School to Post H.S.' - Dr. Diana Lubick

Gerda Shea, our German-born Chef outdid herself this year with her famous Oktoberfest lunch held on the lower campus by the creek. Everyone enjoyed the delicious German sausages, pork roast and German beef along with red cabbage, potato salad and homemade pretzels. Gerda didn't forget to provide her signature deserts; strudel and German chocolate cake!
